Flutter App Development

Mobile product workflows with shared Flutter code and deliberate handling of platform-specific behavior.

Discuss your project

I help develop Flutter applications around a clear mobile task: collecting information, reading content, following activity, or interacting with an existing product. The goal is a coherent experience on the target devices, including network interruptions, keyboard behavior, and the app returning from the background.

Shared code can simplify product delivery, but device capabilities and store requirements still need explicit decisions. Before implementation, we review supported platforms, authentication, data ownership, required integrations, and whether the first release needs offline operation or device permissions.

When this service fits

For a new mobile product, a companion app for an existing service, or an established Flutter app that needs a focused feature or repair. Existing mobile portfolio examples below show product contexts; they do not imply a Flutter implementation where the stack is undocumented.

Mobile interfaces and navigation

I map screens to the actual task and define navigation, back behavior, form validation, and loading feedback. Reusable widgets should reflect stable product patterns. Layouts need to remain readable with small screens, longer translations, text scaling, and an open keyboard rather than matching only a single ideal screenshot.

State, APIs, and interrupted connections

I separate view state from persistent information and remote data. A request needs a defined retry policy, session expiry behavior, and a safe response to the user leaving the screen mid-operation. If offline support is required, we agree which actions can be queued and how conflicting updates are resolved.

Device integrations and platform boundaries

Permissions, deep links, notifications, media access, or location features need platform-specific acceptance criteria when included in scope. I review plugin dependencies and test denied access, unavailable capabilities, and lifecycle transitions. A capability that works in a simulator still needs verification on the relevant physical devices.

Testing and release preparation

Release work includes app configuration, environment separation, signing requirements, and an agreed device test matrix. I document the build and submission steps and identify the product information needed for store disclosures. Publisher accounts and signing ownership should remain clear, and store review timing cannot be promised.

What the handover includes

  • Flutter source code with documented setup and environment configuration.
  • Agreed screen flows, API integration, and platform-specific behavior.
  • A device verification checklist and build or release handover.

Development process

  1. Define the mobile task

Agree on supported platforms, the essential screen flow, backend responsibilities, and device capabilities.

  2. Prove important integrations

Validate uncertain plugin or device behavior before it becomes a dependency of the complete product.

  3. Build and test the journey

Implement the core screens and data flow, then exercise errors, backgrounding, and relevant device sizes.

  4. Prepare ownership and release

Document builds, signing and environment requirements, remaining store materials, and maintenance responsibilities.

Frequently asked questions

Can a Flutter app use my existing backend?

Yes, if the API supports the required mobile workflow. We review authentication, pagination, error responses, and upload or offline needs first. Some workflows may require backend adjustments as part of the scope.

Will both iOS and Android be identical?

Shared product behavior can be consistent while navigation details, permissions, and device integrations differ. We define those differences and the devices used for acceptance testing rather than assuming one platform test covers both.

Can you improve an existing Flutter app?

Yes. A useful starting point is the repository, supported platforms, current build instructions, and a reproducible issue or desired feature. I review dependencies and architecture before proposing a bounded implementation.

Discuss your mobile workflow

Share the main task, target devices, designs if available, and your existing backend or app. That gives us a concrete basis for a first release scope.
